this book in particular is so misogynistic, the anti-slavery is absolutely insane, the mistreatment of magical creatures (elves, dragons, merfolk, centaurs, etc) is deplorable and upsetting, and the plot makes absolutely no sense if you think about it for 0.1 seconds. but the plot is fun if you dont think about any of that
