I can relate to Halt because he takes his time planning before taking action to make sure he is not going in without something to hold on to. He also tries to be very independent making sure he does not rely on anybody. This is because that if someone you rely on heavily is not there, you can't do anything. I can also relate to him by being loyal to someone I trust, like Halt being loyal to the king, not Morgorath.

Since Halt was betrayed by his own brother because he wanted the throne, he then becomes a dark and mysterious person. But since this happened to him, he would not want it to happen to anyone else. He also became a ranger, who most people think are mysterious and deadly. So society placed that label on him, and then he became that person of unknown. He still holds his own ideals, of being loyal to his friends.

The purpose of the book was to entertain its audience, and the audience is for kids twelve to sixteen. The author wrote this book because of two things. First, he wrote it to entertain people, and second, he wrote this so people could see which events lead to the original series. The author wrote this for people who wanted to know where some of the characters came from, and see what they have accomplished beforehand.

If I could interview any character from the book, I would definitely choose Crowly. I would first ask him how was his time as an apprentice under Pritchard, mainly because this detail was never written about. He would probably say what most Rangers would say, that it was a nightmare for the first couple of months, then after awhile, it became quite enjoyable. I would interview him due to his pleasant personality.
