I chose this book because it sounded intriguing. I have always been into mystery, adventure, and action books so why not choose this one. It also had a very interesting title which made me even more excited to read it. I am continuing to read it because I want to see what happens next.

The book The Here and Now is fiction. The author talks about going into the future and going back in time. It is also a love story. Preya, the main character, falls for a boy her age named Ethan and tries to contain her feelings because of the fear of loosing him.

The protagonist in this book is Preya and the minor characters are Poppy, Mona Ghali and Baltos. It is important to remember that the story not only revolves around the main character. For instance Poppy is Preya's dad who she thought was dead. He convinced Preya to trust Ethan and escape from the Travelers. Without him, Preya and Ethan wouldn't have known that a major diastase was coming and they need to fix it.

Preya represents the young and innocent. She is very brave, caring and loving. She will do anything to save her family and friends. The sidekick in this book I would have to say is Ethan. He has been a major contribute to Preya. He has helped her figure out her past and what is going on in the present. He cares for her and will do anything to make sure she is safe.

I believe that Poppy is sympathetic. I believe this because he is kind, generous, and caring. I relate to him because he will do anything for his family. He risks his own life for his child. An unsympathetic character would be Dr. Robert. He is a guy who is mischievous and secretive. He is always there when you least expect it.

There are two protagonists in this story named Ethan and Prenna. In the beginning of the book it is in Ethan's perspective. In the second chapter it switches to Prenna's perspective and it is two years later. Even though I haven't read that far into the book, I predict that every few chapters the perspective of each person will change.
