Not sure that this book really does what it sets out to do in laying out ground work that can be utilized in the class room. Anecdotal stories are nice and all, but.....

I know that I must accept all students at the levels academic maturity and emotional maturity in which they enter my class. Were I to expect and demand that all students act in ways in which they are not yet capable, I would frustrate myself and the students as well. I would alienate the students by insisting they show maturity beyond what their experience and previous environments could ever provide for.
