Zoey saying everything I have been thinking about these characters the entire book. Hopefully, all the horrible personality traits of our four main characters as adults actually have a legitimate purpose to the story other than alienating me from the story.

I really hope it's just that I am early in the story (~20%), but all of the 'Liars' have become awful, materialistic, hypocritical adults. There is nothing likable about any of them so far. It's a sad future for characters I used to like.

The wokeness of the teens in the original series seems to have ratched up in their adulthood... Most people grow out of it. I guess the wealthy, represented in this series, never do. So the depiction is probably spot on. Doesn't change the fact that it still makes me cringe.
