So the novel seems to be a more literal interpretation of IT, as many of the ideas from that novel appear in this one but in more tangible forms. However the story and the characters' relation to it avoids the blow-by-blow rhythm of IT, and it goes in a new direction that is enough to give Dreamcatcher it's own identity. I'm loving it.
