Can I just take a moment to appreciate the irony of being accused of being mean and offensive after reacting to a book in my own review space thatI found offensive? I mean, if one sentence bothers you, please don't read my reviews. I bite.

Maria I am so sorry this has happened to you. No reviewer should ever be insulted for expressing their own opinion:(

Josin McQuein I love this.

Izzy people are going crazy over that subject recently! it's like no one is entitled to say what they think... if you express an opinion about a book in your own profile, where you're SUPPOSED to do just that, why do people think it's okay to come after you?? if they disagree with what you've written they should just move on to the next review, period

message 4: by Ashleyjo (new)

Ashleyjo Sorry, Hun. But, just remember that it doesn't matter what you do or don't do, the haters will always find a way to spread venom.

Kerri (Book Hoarder) Stuff like that drives me nuts! Honestly, I feel like it's just a sign of someone being insecure about their own opinion and feeling the need to defend it. Either that or a friend who doesn't understand author/reviewer boundaries.

Gaby (lookingatbooks) Well I must be a mean person too, considering I don't rate every book with 5 stars and talk about how great it was. Gosh, people are unbelievable. It's your review account. You write what you feel. I read reviews I don't personally agree with, but I would never tell that person that or call them names. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. All you have to say to people like this is simple. Bless. Your. Heart.

Brigid God that is so minimalistic. This person makes no sense to me. Why would you even want someone make their opinion less comprehensive if for the sake of positivity.

message 8: by Laura (new)

Laura There are some people out there who get their panties in a bunch if there is any review of a book that they love that others hate. We can't all love the same books. When I see a negative review of a book I love, I read it just to see what they hated about it, but I don't go attacking them for having an opinion different from mine.

message 9: by Fatemeh (new)

Fatemeh Sorry Steph. But honestly, don't listen to them. I like that you're honest in your reviews. Everyone should be free to express their opinions.

message 10: by Wendy Darling (new)

Wendy Darling It's so funny how they're allowed to be outraged over other people's opinions and be frustrated with "popular reviewers" on their review spaces, but we're not allowed to have opinions and, you know, talk about the actual book.

message 11: by Grace (new)

Grace Eleanor I see your reviews all the time, a lot of the time I agree with you and others I don't but, even when you've disliked a book I've loved I've still enjoyed reading your reviews because they are honest and I'd never even dream of attacking you because of it. Not everybody has the same feelings towards books, many need to realise that you're entitled to your opinion and they're entitled to theirs, even if they differ.

message 12: by Rebekah (new)

Rebekah May I actually prefer to read negative reviews. When I'm thinking of picking up a book I find that the negative reviews say more about what it's like than the positive ones, and if I find myself thinking, well they found that bad but that's actually what I like about in books, I usually pick it up. And then, on the other hand, if there's something offensive in there then I know to avoid it etc. Is that weird? idk.

message 13: by Steph (new)

Steph Sinclair Well, I'm not offended that other people are offended by me and others being offended by a book's synopsis. FFS. That's a lot of feelings in one sentence.

I just find the entire situation hilariously ironic that some are literally using their review spaces to fling shit at other reviewers in a twisted mentality that an author (one presumably in a more significant position of power and influence) needs protection. I mean, it's like me trying to defend a public corporation after other displeased consumers voice concerns over offensive marketing advertisements. O_o

I found this update you posted offensive. Please refrain from being offended in the future, as I'm trying to create a safe place for myself by forcing my opinions on others.

message 15: by Steph (new)

Steph Sinclair Lol. Well played, Travis.

Tara GR has taken all the piss out of it.

I Was Once Accused of Spoiling Members for a Book and Writing a Horrible Letter to a Author. on Goodreads

Both Were FalseHoods. It Turns Out That I Never Spoiled Anyone or Wrote a Horrible Letter to a Author. There Was Another Ginny That Sent The Letter. I Know It Wasn't Me Because I Had Deleted My Account 3 Days Before. Once I Made a New Account, One of My Goodreads Friends Blamed Me for Both Events.and Blocked Me. She Actually Told One of My Other Goodreads Friends That She Never Wanted to Talk to Me Ever Again

UPDATE: Both Issues Were Cleared Up. I Told The Authors That It Was NOT Me That Had Not Done Those Things

hahahahaha! Authors don't need to be defended. They can do that themselves....if they want. Usually it comes off very pointed at certain reviewers.
