i’m getting frustrated with how much of the book thus far is just flowery waffling. nothing much has happened so far, and what *has* taken place, and is of significance - 1. the ussr being recognised internationally, and 2. the count having a curse placed on him - is not really paid mind to. instead, so much emphasis is placed on tangents about nothing in particular, that actual plot developments feel forgettable.

i’m getting a little frustrated at how much of the book is just flowery waffling. nothing much has happened so far, and what HAS happened - the ussr allowing people from other countries to visit again, and the count having an invisibility curse placed on him - is spoken about so little, in comparison to painfully detailed tangents about nothing, that such plot developments feel forgettable.

i picked this novel up a year ago and only read a few pages before life got in the way. i picked it up again this year and am determined to spend more time reading!!
