Li-Young Lee's Goodreads description characterizes his poems as full of three s's: "simplicity, strength, and silence." I think these are a good way to describe his work, but they leave out his poetic obsessions: loss and leaving behind, and his dead father--so prevalent in this book. I have never read a Lee poem I didn't like, and that streak continues!
