this is a very OK science history book (not really any abiogenesis) But it has an annoying way of lacking All years or sense of time... yes, we know by famous things like Shelly's Frankenstein but it So annoying. Just put in a (in the year statement) now and then.

Catholics could eat geese on Friday because they were observed to be produced from pitch and pine tar (or some such) and therefore they were Just like fish and OK to eat... I remember all the foolish admonishing about eating foods during lent. So, the Communists have been big in The Church for a long long time.
