I do find it a little odd that it’s portrayed as if the author completely cut off contact with her family for several months- she’s got a husband and child at home, but she never mentions checking in on them, how they’re doing, etc. It reminds me of the trope of more privileged people abandoning all ties/responsibilities in order to “find themselves”
