Painful to read! I probably knew this author...I wish I could find a picture of her to know. There was one super mean librarian there and I think it was her lol. But this is just....so bigoted. Fatfobic rampant. Judgmental. I cannot in any way recommend this book. I am cringing the whole way and it's also breaking my heart for my special needs son that people look at him and have these gross ableist thoughts...

I have wanted to check this one out forever because it caused so much drama in my hometown - look up 'Mason County Library Ann Miketa' and juicy gossip should show up. Anyway, I decided to pick it up for a summer library challenge for 'Michigan author' thinking it wouldn't be truly as bad as it was discussed to be. But it is. This woman sounds like a bitter, ableist, disgusting human being.

The author wrote this and I thought it was more...anecdotal stories that were attempting to be funny about events/working experiences while the author worked at our local library. But instead it was a straight up angry and bitter rant. Each chapter is about some patron that annoyed the author - and I could have given some respect for actual stories that happened, possibly, but some chapters were only comments about the patrons body types, supposed financial and mental capabilities...some chapters there weren't even any details of anything these patrons supposedly did to her, just that they existed and it bothered her immensely. Very, very ableist and fatfobic. I feel gross inside for having read it. 😭
That sounds horrid. You have my sympathies...
