St Bartholomew day massacre August 1572
The Henri III and prob Catherine de Medici his wife ordered a prominent Huguenot killed Coligny, and the violence spread to other Huguenots and thousands in and around Paris. It was the most famous of so many massacres of both sides in the French wars of Religion from 1562-1598. Satan was believed to have promoted , lived in and perpetuated these wars.

Seems to have been always occupied, N Africans traded there, 1000 years later evidence of the Celtic Parisii appeared.
In 54 BC, the Romans under Julius Caesar conquered the area, naming it Lutetia.

The right bank was work and commerce and the Left back was spiritual and intellectual from ancient times, when the city was controlled by Gauls and Roman occupiers
