While I’m really enjoying this (esp the second volume) and Simone is immensely intelligent, it’s difficult to reconcile the fact that she scouted out young women to be abused by Sartre whilst writing essays about the sexual torment of young girls by men. It feels massively hypocritical- like how can you be hitting point after point but still act on the prehensile whims of a man.
