While I reread the series, I’m slowly remembering my biggest gripe with the Peter Jackson movies. They butchered Gimli by making him the comedic side character! I understand that one is needed, even if we have Merry and Pippin, but the soul and thoughtfulness of book Gimli is missing from the movies.

I live Treebeard, but I read all of his lines at the slow pace ents are known for talking in and that annoyed me.
