Sriram dives headfirst into the independence movement, driven by his love for Bharati and admiration for Gandhi. He struggles with balancing his feelings for Bharati and his new responsibilities. These pages show Sriram growing up a lot, turning from a naive guy into someone serious about the cause, inspired by Bharati's dedication and Gandhi's teachings on non-violence.

Reading page 89 of "Waiting for the Mahatma," I couldn't help but be struck by Gorpad. He’s this rough, intimidating guy who stands out with his tough demeanor. Honestly, he scared me a bit with how aggressive he seemed. Compared to the other characters, Gorpad brings a whole different vibe to the story. His interactions with Sriram definitely add some tension and make things more interesting.

Reading the first part of R.K. Narayan's "Waiting for the Mahatma," I felt immersed in India's transition from colonial rule to independence. Sriram seemed just like me, living a simple life with his grandma. But meeting Bharati changed everything. His involvement in Gandhi’s movement was fascinating; I watched him grow from a love-struck youth to someone politically aware. Gandhi’s influence felt profound.
