Talking about layoffs in newsrooms — “Somehow I kept my job, probably just because I worked so obsessively that I’d published more stories than anyone else.” I am a journalist myself and find this insulting. Layoffs typically have literally nothing to do with who is more productive or who is the best. I have seen Pulitzer winners laid off. Ugh. Gross.
