I mean.... The plot doesn't even make sense. The relationships are so hot and cold, the inner discourse is banal. One second we're best friends, the next, for no reason at all someone snaps and ALL trust is gone, and the next we're besties again with unconditional love.... I just... I can't. This is an awful book.

I mean, the number of times Maas writes the plot with clear connections, then tells you "there has to be a connection!" (weirdly placed exclamation point and all) or that it "means something".... Well, obviously.... Also, the names of people and places are.... Off.... I don't know how to explain it, but it's as if she's trying to make normal names sound fanciful...

I just.... There are elements of a really interesting story here, but then weird plot shifts, poor character building, random behaviors between characters that were supposed to have been building relationships for the last 200 pages.... Like, I dunno. Definitely not a series I'll be finishing at this point. I keep almost giving up on the book. If it weren't so easy to read, I would have already. #booktokfail ??
