Definitely not a cute and twee ‘Flower Fairies’ approach to the nature folk. An academic -level work from 1878. Thomas Keightley is the best source for serious study on Fairy’s etc as Katherine Briggs is to Fairy Tales. So far, the book has covered the origin of Fairy belief and of the name Fairy; Oriental Romance; Middle Age Romance;Fairy-Land; Eddas and Sagas and I’m currently into the Scandinavia section.
