The book compares the 1997 IMF debacle with a Colonization episode where Japan tried to loan Korea money to take financial control of the country. Ok, fine. Faulty comparison but I'll believe you. But calling the printing of the Tripitaka Koreana another example of "national defense project" is... hilarious, to say the least.

Once again, the Cia Cia failure is mentioned without recognition that Buton no longer uses it. But this book goes a step further and mentions Cheng in Nepal (which I didn't know) but was apparently another failed attempt at applying Hangul to Non-Korean languages. There's no timing issue here. The attempts at bringing Hangul to Cia Cia was AFTER the failure of Cheng. (Both efforts propagated by the same man.)

"There are those who put forward their own limited opinion on the basis of the little they have heard; if others agree, they are pleased, but if others disagree, they say that they are wrong. Like a man who observes the sky through a hold in a reed, such people approve when others view the sky through the same hole, but claim that those who do not are unable to see the sky." - Wonhyo
