So far I am thoroughly enjoying this book. Jane Jacobs, who was not an urban planner or designer, describes cities and the many uses of it in an almost theatrical way. This only makes sense as Jacobs was trained as a journalist, and may dramatize for effect. She does an excellent job of analyzing the city and people's behaviours and writing in such a way that allows you to envision it and understand it yourself
