So far very interesting. The book brings insight on the ideas of self worth and love for others. I especially found meaning in Shai held’s idea where we (all people, not just Jews)are created in god’s image and therefore have worth and each life was brought into this world for a purpose.

This chapter is so relevant to today’s political discussion. This is the Judaism that I belong to, the practice of love and compassion for everyone friend or stranger (Stranger as it is written in the Torah means both a literal stranger and also immigrant). The Torah makes it clear that because of our history of oppression it is our duty as Jews to support others in their experiences of oppression.

Very good so far. Shai Held discusses the idea within Judaism that we are compelled to protest unjust conditions but not to forget to be grateful for what we have. I found his words very interesting and informative.
