Not even done with this reread

There are times this is a decent read. Enjoyable and creative at best.

But when it’s bad, it’s sucks fucking sewage ass.

If someone were to catch me reading this shit, I’d be ashamed and embarrassed bc it’s fucking horrid.

I would read about and go do something else

Come back to read more , only to remember why I couldn’t binge read

The character breaking the fourth(?) wall by speaking directly to the reader, unprovoked and unwanted imo.

I fucking hate this kind of shit writing.

I very likely made these same notes the first times around but couldn’t be bothered to check rn.

Also noteworthy is the lack of distinction between all the members of this RH.
Ugh

There’s always only one or two stand outside that seemingly get more “screen time” and attention.
And usually the best lines and moments

The rest are cannon fodder

There were plenty of periods it seemed like a four stars worth read, but quickly a shitty bit of poo culture/ human / cringe af bs was being spewed, and I lost a little more of the admiration I had…

I initially gave this three stars?….

But now I’ll prob take a star away by the end of this reread

Ngl this author had me at the first line of this book, with the alien/predator reference.

Then the story was good enough to keep reading again.

I tried to ignore the many, many cringeworthy pop culture references and general cringe dialogues

But too much is nauseatingly annoying

I just felt lackluster finishing this one.
Really makes me want to read a series that I can dive in. These felt like wading ankle deep in tepid water, and constantly slipping and falling on my ass. Minor inconvenience, semi pleasant, but not much in the way of being perfect.

Ugh, it’s so hard to find a series, let alone one book that fits.

Third note

This is just in case a get the urge to do another reread of this series… it wasn’t the worst at all, compared to the really shit “books”

But, I’d wish this one focused more on the mcs, and storyline/concepts, most of them being so fascinating.

🙏 another Na’rith pirate crew story even.

Second note

Prob, def would’ve been so much better with more detail in this story and characters. (A tad bit too much over share, irrelevant and cringey) There were only minor distinctions to differentiate the mcs and that eventually became so messy I hardly recall any of them.

Kept fluctuating between three and four stars… at times it even dropped to one it got so annoying. Can’t say it’s a solid three or even three point five. There were four stars moments sure but that was semi few and far in between, and waylaid repeatedly by the little shitty details popping up like zits. 🤷🏻‍♀️
