Idk why people get upset when people like a book. I saw a girl’s review on a book she hated and I agreed with her and then a girl I friended was mad we didn’t like it and said the author worked hard on it for a debut.

I can relate to a degree. I'm ferociously protective of some authors and ofc in a perfect world everyone would love their books or I would make them 🤭 but alas we live in an imperfect world. It's crazy to act like someone hasn't read enough though because they didn't hate a book that someone else did or vice versa. Sigh. Sorry that happened to you. Opinions differ. What an insane concept.

i cant read my fave books hateful reviews bc its always like "i cant believe theres people who like this shit" or "who can even read this" "is this even a book" stop wasting your time"
like they start offending not the book, but the reader which i dont think is okayish.

THIS! Everyone deserves an opinion that needs to be respected. Hell we can dicuss books if you liked it and I didn't and vice versa. I LOVE hearing others thoughts and can a lot of times understand why they felt that way if they are respectful!

Reading is so subjective and it's a passion for many of us so I totally get that. But I've seen some real choice words being used for ppl when they don't agree and it's just baffling. Like- if I didn't like mayo am I a fucking idiot that doesn't know anything or does that only apply when I don't or do like a certain book?

That is not my damn generation- I know that for sure.

Everyone is different !! We all love reading our books...that's what matters. You try different genres ...some you like...some you don't ...oh well..grab another book...no need to bad mouth ..just enjoy

I whole heartedly agree! If I don't enjoy a book I love to see when others love it. As you said it is subjective and there is no reason to name call or be disrespectful because you don't agree with someone else's view.
