If a child is playing monotonously, is changing in behavior, is exhibiting new, specific fears, is dreaming terrible, repeated dreams, or is making comments about something unusual, perhaps even supernatural, the child should be taken by the parents to a child psychiatrist for evaluation.

One wonders how many traumatized children and/or their parents would consider returning to treatment, however, once they have achieved relief. Most traumatized people, as we have already seen, try almost beyond anything else to put the experience behind them.

Adolescence in particular reawakens old conflicts concerning compromised autonomy...[&] once the child has entered a developmental sequence that has an important meaning related to the trauma.

"Stephen King says he believes he could write, if he wanted, nonhorror fiction."

One thing that is a delight in reading decades old books is seeing how things play out and I have read a couple of Stephen King's nonhorror fiction works. So there! He did it! He's doing it! He evolved.

Despite the claim (I can't find now) that Ray Bradbury became a worse writer when he got emotionally healthier

By virtue of time skew and repetitive dreaming, traumatized children come to think that they are psychic. One wonders how many professional psychics have had traumatic occurrences in their own pasts. Did psychic trauma establish the sense of "power"? It would be fun to study psychics and fortune tellers.

I'm not in a position to comment on prophets, psychics, fortune tellers, and dream predictors. But some traumatized people DO claim to have these powers. And I can comment on trauma, We've already seen several examples of dream prediction in this book. In childhood trauma, paranormal "powers" develop after, not before, the overwhelming events.
