Excellent read. It's a deep dive in the ascent of China and Shanghai through the British colonisation era, then the wars and after the war (read rise of communism). The astute business acumen of the Sassoon and the Kadoori dynasties at establishing themselves - time and again alongside their charitable disposition thought the years.
