I love this book so far. The magic system is very interesting, all of the characters are flawed in some way shape or form, McClellan doesn’t shy away from the trappings of a Napoleonic Era world with Magic (definitely some more adult themes) but none of feels gratuitous or shoehorned in for “dark and mature” cred.

Taniel is my fav character so far, Powder Mage with a cheating fiancé, and a coke prob.
