The MC is a widow and loves cats, and that's really why I'm going to read to the end. We have many characters and references to minor (and historical) characters throughout the book. It is well-written. But the descriptions and the story/backstory (we'll see how it's revelant when they solve the crime) set in the 1920s disconnect me from the present story, but I'm not a historical fiction fan.

there are about 15 people mentioned within the first 13 pages if I counted right- otherwise I like Sarah's character and that it deals a lot with the MC's grief. reading it slower that other thrillers because it's not so much a page turner as a slower thriller with quite a bit of descriptions and info about characters the town, etc. good though... will be worth finishing.
