All of the characters are outlaws and most are truly bad men. The narrator makes you like them anyway. Maybe not like them, but certainly support them. It's an odd sensation.

I think it's interesting that there are so many fantasy books in which the apocalypse causes magic to enter into the world or, at the very least, be discovered.
