Oh lord. They didn't have telephones in 1800. Fail.

Cody Young The telephone was invented in 1876. By 1900, when this book is set, there were many, many subscribers. The heroine, who is NOT called 'Lady' Susannah, would have been familiar with telephone technology.

Cee Yeah, I made an error there, I read 1800, and not 1900. I corrected that fact in my review.

However, your book is called The Lady and the Locksmith. I assume with "The Lady" you mean Susannah, and with "The Locksmith" you mean Carl. So I find it completely within my right to call Susannah "Lady" as for making the review clearer for my readers, to connect the story to the title of this book.
