I seldom read sci-fi but read this book several years ago and really enjoyed it. I hope you like it as well.

The 70’s style writing is so interesting. Even the “disaster movies” of the 70’s had the same style. This included multiple groups of people, with their own agenda, headed towards a disaster event. In 70’s literature the novels tend to have greater length to accomplish this endeavor. I enjoyed it then and I enjoy it now.
