‘Did she really give him purpose? And when he had spoken of long, dark nights, she had been overwhelmed by wicked thoughts of their bodies entangled in the sheets of his bed. His warmth surrounding her, keeping her safe from the dark. They were almost words of love. But not quite.’

The only thing worse than a Big Mis is when an obstacle side character makes an abrupt 180 shift in order to clear up that Big Mis, because the MCs just can’t be bothered to work things out on their own. That always screams “contrived drama” + “forced conflict.”

So many Big Misunderstandings. 🙄 Yes, yes…it’s all been a tempest in a teapot. *taps foot impatiently*

This is cute…almost to the point of cuteness overload. I wasn’t expecting (or even desiring) a gritty read when I picked it up, but can we at least have a *tiny* bit of edge or realism or not-so-sticky-sweetness in the 2nd half?

‘She knew what people would think of her spending the winter with Runar: they would think it the greatest jest. They would tease & laugh at her, about how useless she was, & how embarrassing it must have been, that even the wild man of the woods had been forced to look after her like an unwanted child.’ ….Girl, fuck them. They can all kiss your ass & good riddance.

‘Unsure if he were replying to her or talking to himself, she decided to stay silent. The scratching of a stone in the darkness was answer enough, & soon there was a spark & then a torch flaring up. For a moment, there was nothing but his face in the darkness, & she found it oddly reassuring to look upon the grizzly, unkempt appearance of the stranger she had come to rely on.’

‘If she were to die, she should at least try to take her last breath with more dignity than in a hole of her own making. What if someone found her like this? Frozen solid & planted in the ground like a turnip. The shame of it would follow her into the afterlife.’ ….Heh.
