I have been putting off reading it because I'm not really into milSF, but it's MUCH less military than I thought! More along the likes of Vorkosigan

I'm not into military sci-fi either, but I remember enjoying this series quite a bit.
I haven't read any Vorkosigan, so I'll have to look into that.
