Notes:
(1) Autumn's around the corner and I've got yearly reading goals to check off. One of them is to read five "forgotten" physical books I already own
- My current count is zero. Luckily, this book qualifies.
(2) It'll be interesting to see Stan Sakai draw humans.
- I only really know Sakai from "Usagi Yojimbo" and the occasional "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" crossover.

Notes:
(1) The last issue is pretty anticlimactic, a number of good scenes but overall very cut-and-dried.
- Partly, it's the limitations of historical fiction. Things happened the way they did, or as they've been told over time, and jazzing things up too much risks moving it into the realm of inspired fiction.
(2) Kira's men are typical goon henchmen. Pure cannon fodder.

Notes:
(1) For a revenge story, there hasn't been much action. Actual combat's lasted less than a page.
- The best parts of this have been the men saying goodbye to their women (wives, girlfriends and children) as they go off into the unknown.
(2) This feels old, but in a good way. It's told exactly like a fable.
- A little fuzzy around the edges, as if worn down by time.

Notes:
(1) Given the simplistic art style, I wondered how they'd handle differentiating characters. Turns out they went full "TMNT" and color-coded everyone's clothes.
- It's very effective. I know right away that Asano is blue, Kira is orange, Oishi is green, Kamei is purple, etc.
(2) Who knew calling someone a "bumpkin" could start a war?
- The things we do for honor...
