This is... a bit uneven. The prose is passable, but I've found myself boggling at some of the adjectives, adverbs and general detail being thrown in - often distractions rather than good additions. A quarter of the way through and it hasn't developed any pace, although I'm warming to the main characters. Sticking with it for now (it's not very long!)
