I had to mute all my preconceived notions and biases before I started reading this book. I felt empathetic to every character in the beginning, but halfway through, I realized the children are victims. Chanel and Supreme have difficult lives, but Principal Holmes is correct to say that parents must take care of the children that they give birth to.
