So sick of this book but I have to finish it. Balzac is such a larger than life character, and not in a good way. Where I am now, he’s turning out novels by the score and carrying on affairs with multiple ladies, fudging bailiffs trying to repossess his furniture for debts, revising manuscripts and proofs eleven or twelve times, whipping out masterpieces from the crack of his ass — and I just don’t care anymore.
