It has been suggested that one skim through the 300 page abyss of women being raped and beaten so as to approach the ecstasy afterwards in a better frame of mind. Have not read it myself though!!!

It's funny you write today--I just stalked a certain someone's goodreads page, and my guess is that the suggestion you've been given is that of your new hubbie? I happened to read his 2666 review. Congratulations btw. I'm very happy for you. (I'm not on FB much these days, but Zac gave me the news).
P.S. I'm jealous of how many books he reads a month. How is that possible? Does he not do anything but read?
Right you are! And yes, he reads a ton... I think he's polished off, like, three books this past week alone.
