Off to a great start! Faust's despair at leading a life that had been hitherto his meeting with Mephisto dedicated to the acquisition of knowledge is such an interesting dynamic. Goethe was known for being a polymath so I wonder if this retelling of the Faustian bargaining tale was his way of conveying dissatisfaction with an intellectual existence.
