Christopher’s continuous blind eye to Janie is becoming more and more infuriating especially when having to read his POV. Sir, how dumb are you !??

Hannah at this point stopped be annoying, i just feel bad for her cause Chris is clearly in denial about Janie.

The girl requires special help !

Honestly i don’t know if i trust either of these characters judgement when it comes to Janie.

Is Hannah STUPID to consider letting Janie breastfeed from her ????!!!
Like poking the cat to see if it bleeds, checking if people cry, shitting herself like it’s blady normal ??

At this point both Bauer characters are irritating the shit out of me. Forget the husband, Hannah’s kinda irritating as much as he does !

Just a quick one:

HOW IN THE WORLD DID THEY THINK GETTING THIS CHILD A PET WOULD BE A GOOD THING ???

this child gives red flags from start to finish !
when she admitted why she always pinched Elodie - reason was to see how she would cry - and when she pushed her off the slide and broke her arm should’ve been a dead ringer to these two !!

So our FMC - Hannah - has actually fallen pregnant, amazing for her as her character has been longing for this forever.
My thoughts when Chris found out was that he didn’t care? He seemed more concerned about Janie to be honest.
Janie just seems like a brat at this point. She’s been kicked out of 3 schools may I add - last one being cause she bullied her “best friend” Elodie and broken the girls arm !

Picked up on the Audio version of the book and it’s actually really good.. it’s at the first audiobook I don’t feel like stopping.
Things I’ve picked up so far:
- Christopher is completely infuriating ! everyone’s Goodreads comments regarding his character is accurate. He’s just blind to Janie’s treatment towards Hannah. And it’s even more concerning that he doesn’t believe anything she says.. Ughh!

Okay interestingly enough, Janie always flipped out the way she does now, even when she was younger.
Becky, the mom, dropped Janie off when she was a baby at the grandmothers house, Sue Watson.
Baby daddy is unknown, apparently Becky was a loose cannon when it came to men - hints of abuse to her from the men. Janie from a young age used to strip from rage. Which begs the question - What is actually wrong with her?

So far:
- Janie’s under the care of the Bauer’s
- It was Hannah’s idea to take her in, although it’s only temporary for 2 weeks until a permanent home is found
- All the abuse Janie endured has really left a lasting impact on her wellbeing and mental state. She flips out like a switch of a button and goes into a nasty rage.
Still to get to the parts where things start going south, but interesting read so far.

things we know so far:
- janie’s actually 6, not 3
- she did stay at the trailer park side and the trailer was super dodge inside with blood stains and a used dog collar
- Becky Watson is Janie’s mom who’s been killed (suspected foul play)
- Dr Chris is obsessed with Janie, Hannah not so much
- Social worker Piper is concerned about the severity of Janie’s case
all in all, not much has been revealed yet.

so far premise of the book is about a young toddler coming into the hospital, seems to have been severely abused. the book started off with an interview between a social worker and a police officer - the social worker seeming to let on that she was assisting with said toddlers case when she got taken in.
however it’s been said and reinforced multiple times in the beginning that something bad happened.
