Chapter 22 was tremendous!

I read this book over 40 years ago for a high school English assignment, and I don't remember much of it. But now I'm really enjoying it! The first chapter's description of the Central Valley made me nostalgic for my home town of San Bernardino and its beautiful mountains and occasional wet winters.
