The White Cat - what a delightful story. Meow.

The Terrible Head - interesting how much different a Greek myth is without the names we're all familiar with. Good version of the Perseus myth.

Hansel and Grettel - just as we all know and love it, except that Gretel gets an extra "t" in her name

Snow-White and Rose Red - :) someday I'm going to play my own red and white rosebushes and put a little bear and gnome statue there

Little Thumb - the smallest member of a poor family arranges for the murder of the daughters of a kind woman who helps him & his siblings, then steals her cash.

The Forty Thieves - screw Ali Baba, this is all Morgiana's story. Too bad she's a slave and WTF with boiling men alive in oil?

The History of Whittington - a street urchin adopts a homeless cat and gets nicely rewarded. I am loving the Humane Society theme here.

The Wonderful Sheep - Madame d'Aulnoy clearly hated children. She may very well be the original evil witch of fairy tales. Boo.

The Water-Lily, The Gold-Spinners - a prince doesn't give up on the woman he loves, even after death. Awwww.

The Story of Pretty Goldilocks - no bears in this one. A pretty but picky princess puts a princely pauper into a pickle of tests. His kindness to animals helps him win her heart, for whatever it's worth.

The Master-Maid - another blockhead catches the eye of a truly meanspirited woman, and we're supposed to root for them?

Why the Sea is Salt - horrible story of a man who cheats his own brother. I don't like most of these Scandinavian tales.

Puss in Boots - another story of a con artist, albeit a likeable one.

Felicia and the Pot of Pinks - finally, a very happy surprise! Loved it.

The Tale of a Youth Who Set Out to Learn What Fear Was - blockhead too stupid to be scared of anything gets dumb-lucky, cheats death, and becomes a king. Is this a metaphor for politicians or something?

Rumpelstiltzkin - the father was a jerk, the king a psychopath, and the girl a cheat. I always felt sorry for poor ole Rumpel. Aren't you never supposed to swindle dwarves?

Beauty and the Beast - magnificent

Cinderella - she's not a complete pushover and I was surprised to see there is a happy ending for her stepsisters

Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp - lazy boy gets rewarded for being lazy, but marries a very stupid girl. Lots of fun and magic

The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood - I had no idea that there is a second (and far more disturbing) half to the story. This version makes the curse a little more clear, which always confused me in other renditions.

East of the Sun, West of the Moon - perfection

The Yellow Dwarf - WFT? not one, but two characters break promises. I was rooting for the Dwarf.

Little Red Riding Hood - depressing version w/o the woodsman.

Prince Hyacinth and the Dear Little Princess - a good moral about indulging children, reminiscent of "To a Louse". Guess today's parents of Generation I-Am-A-Special-Snowflake didn't read this tale.
