The medical team at Frankie’s station has a party to welcome her. During the party, there is an incoming rocket attack and Dr. Jamie Callahan protects/calms Frankie during the explosion.

Frankie’s family highly values military service. Her brother, Finley, ships out to Vietnam. Frankie wants to be a hero too, and signs on with the army as a nurse. The day she tells her family, they get notice that her brother has been killed in combat.
