That time when you become a fangirl of George Herbert and can’t stop gushing about his poems to everyone…

It would most definitely be a worthy pursuit to commit some of these to memory.

“The Agony”
Another penetrating reflection upon Christ’s abounding love. Short, concise, yet what depth!

Not gonna lie, I’m actually angry that no one ever told me to go read Herbert before. Friends don’t let friends go without.

I was so awestruck by “The Sacrifice,” that it took me some ❤️‍🩹 recovery time to attempt another. Today’s “Thanksgiving” is beautifully articulated. Just. So. Good. So. So. Good.

“The Sacrifice” was an absolutely gut-wrenching poem. I’m so impressed with the two poems I’ve read so far. This book includes just enough notes to complement the text for full understanding. Plans to re-read this poem next Good Friday.

I like the way this book is organized, but I’m certain I can’t keep it from the library for a year…
