Oh, man! Early thoughts? I failed to get into this one last year but would love a good reason to give MD a second attempt.

Hi Carol! I'm enjoying it so far. It's very different than I expected but not in a bad way. It's more contemporary and urbane. I was expecting more rural magical realism. I'm sure that's coming. Naylor is engaging and interesting. It takes place in the 80s and for me seems true to form. I just wish I had more chunks of time available to just read. No audiobook for this which takes longer, but it's good prose so this is not a disappointment. From what I have read so far, I think you would enjoy it as well.
