Communism must mean to fight for liberation of mankind & restoration of the environment. All current 'socialist' States are exploitative and self-indulgent and have crushed the workers. The Bourgeoisie is the only class that has won the revolutionary struggle.
Workers of the world will not unite of their own, but must be deprogrammed of nationalism and brought together against authoritarianism to have a hope to win!

Trying to evaluate a whether a revolution is 'successful' or not by how much welfare it does is irrelevant to working class liberation and only proves they're bourgeois revolutions and their supporters reactionaries to communism.
So when an autonomous project of worker control rises up, it can be called anti-'communist' by these same reactionaries for daring to challenge their favourite oppression State machine.

Any organisation that has become centralised enough and militarised enough to defeat an Imperial State, then the organisation will have become an Imperial State of its own and with it become a (State) Capitalism regime, and with that a reactionary force against the working class and communist liberation.

Mao & the Party unsurprisingly change their minds & crush Shanghai after pretending to give in, while - like the bosses of Capital they are - ordering the workers back to work as they're meant to do or else

Part 4: "Left-Wing" Authoritarianism: An Infantile Disorder

We're not in 1870, we're not experimenting to see if Govt-led socialism works. The State is purely negative & leads every Revolution back to Capitalism

Mao launched the Great Leap Forward to increase agricultural yields and working productivity in the name of that capitalist 'productive forces'.

This was then followed by the Cultural Revolution to discredit workers' organisations and cement Mao's power, but the Shanghai Commune, modeled after the Paris Commune, would try to torpedo both.

Part 3: Maoist China

Now we see what happens when a party designs a State to dissolve upon the 'completion' of the revolution.
Mao was influenced by some anarchist ideas while in France, and by 1920s the GMD (KMT) already saw them as a big enough threat to massacre over 300k people to eradicate the 'communist threat'.

With the Party dictatorship over the State against any workers' control of industry or workers' democracy, suicide among revolutionary communists soared as Bolshevism crushed all hopes and all opposition, even calling the true communists of Kronstadt 'petty-bourgeois reactionary syndicalists and anarchists' with no irony.

The Bolsheviki used State repression against the Factory Committees through the hierarchical - and thus co-optable - Trade Unions. With this, any and all worker control of industry was stolen by the new State Capitalist Regime.

Part 2: The USSR

While the workers were setting up worker's control in land and factories, Lenin was pretending to be in favour. All while a Bakunin prediction for State Communism was coming true, that any remaining State will see dual power as a threat and move for its destruction. Kerensky and then Lenin would carry it out.

The 'dictatorship of the proletariat' was always meant to be that any remaining State must be subservient to the working masses. Blanquism-Leninism instead pushed for an all-powerful State to 'vanguard' the 'dumb' masses to revolution. This all-powerful State, portraying itself as the true proletarian spirit, will then justify with this the suppression of the working class in their own name.
