Malina is an early morning book, to be read between bursts of sleep as grey dawn melts into first light. Later the half-remembered sentences steal into your consciousness, masked as dream recollection or sharp dialogue that can’t quite be placed in the day world. This is in keeping with the book as both vast & liminal.
