It turns out that what I was really looking for wasn’t a book with Dostoevsky as the protagonist at all, but rather one where a writer attempts to understand Dostoevsky without the curtain of criticism, so its no fault of this book that it didn’t meet that expectation. It's solid writing!

I've been tossing about the idea that what I've been searching for, ever since reading Dostoevsky, is Knausgård. I hear he reads The Brothers Karamazov throughout A Man In Love, let's find out he's been my answer all along.

Disheartened – I'd hoped for a story that was more 'fiction with Dostoevsky as protagonist' rather than another 'imaginary memoir,' which I've discovered I am already opposed to on principle, but that doesn't seem to be the case. His epileptic fits, and the violent ideology of redemption of one of his characters, are already being emphasised. :)
