There are definitely elements that are reminiscent of "Shadow and Bone", "Crescent City" and ACOTAR, but I don't feel like it's a rip-off (yet). I started out with the Kindle Unlimited version and quickly realized I needed the paperback to refer back to the map and glossary. The writing is excellent, compared to a few other fantasies I've read lately.
