Starting this book after reading the Throne of Glass series may have been a mistake... So far I am finding it very hard to follow and care about the characters from the way Aveyard is writing them. It's mainly description after description, even though there's tons of action in it. Maas was much better at writing special snowflakes and action.

This a very slow read, and not much has happened so far that has made me care more about the characters. Because of the descriptive writing Aveyard uses I somehow care about them even less. So far, not a great follow-up book to Red Queen.
